Information On Slips And Falls
There are many people who get injured to the extent that it significantly impacts their lives. A lot of them don't even think about speaking to an attorney; instead, they just suffer, sometimes to the extent that they can no longer do the things they used to be able to do or to the extent that they have to sell their home because they can no longer afford the mortgage. In many cases, they could have sued and won an amount that would help to keep them in a good financial standing where they could continue living the life that they worked so hard for.
By reading the information here, you will see why it is always important to at least speak to an attorney if you have had an injury somewhere that was serious enough to negatively affect your life, even to a very small degree such as losing a few days' pay and needing crutches for a bit. Here are some examples of times when you may think it's not worth seeing an attorney but you really should do so.
You were at fault for the slip and fall
A lot of people feel they would lose a suit because they think that they were the ones who were at fault for slipping and falling. They may have been wearing flip-flops, carrying something that blocked their line of sight partially, or talking on their phone and not paying attention to where they were walking when they fell and got hurt. They may automatically feel the accident was all on them, but the company may actually have to pay.
For example, if you slip and fall at work and you are hurt, then you will more than likely be able to collect workers' compensation. If you slip and fall in a store and the floor was wet, but there was no sign, the store is likely liable. Also, if there was carpet lifting in the middle of the business you were in and it actually caused you to trip, the business is likely liable.
You only hurt for a few weeks and now you're better
If you hurt badly enough in those few weeks that you missed work and therefore missed pay, you collected medical bills, and you had a hard time fighting pain, then you want to talk to a personal injury attorney. If someone else was responsible in any way for your injuries, then you may be able to sue them and win an amount that will pay off those medical bills, pay back the lost wages, and give you money for your pain and suffering that you had gone through.
Also, if you are going to need more physical therapy or any other medical tests, procedures, or treatments, these things will also be considered by the court.
